if you want catch them on bait well all you need is light spin gear and size #10 hooks. for the bait all you need is a packet of prawns but make sure to peel the tail like you were eat them and then bait the hook. lee point beach is the best location. try and find some gutters that the whiting hide in. the best way to look for the gutters is find where there are no wavees breaking and its calm. you dont need to cast far just about 10 or 20 metres because the whiting like the really shallow waters. the best time to go is to catch the run in tide so get there when it is low and and fish the run in. by the way, if you have very small poppers like 3 cms long you can catch them on that because whiting can be very agressive. shorts and quick pops do trick when retreiving.
