The true monsoon showers benefit upon jelly-prawns, mullets and whitings.

It's was a sunny weather during the rainy season last Sunday.
I went to East Point.
There were some rocks in the tide pool.
My very good fishing friend, Mr. Roderic Pineda was catching bait fish by netting.
He showed me many mullets and whitings he caught there.
We also found many small prawns in a rock crevice at a depth of 50cm.
I could not help laughing at the ease with which  he caught those small prawns.

The length of a large one was close to 70mm.
We call those small prawns 'Jelly prawn' in Darwin.
I didn't see so many jelly-prawns in my usual fishing locations for several years.
This rainy season is going very good so far.
That Sunday was clear for the first time in a long time.

Continual heavy rain mainly around the end of December and the beginning of January partly washed away sand and mud that have settled at the bottom of the mouth of Ludmilla creek in East Point.
It increased about a 15cm water depth of the creek.
That should be welcomed.

The creek has become shallower in recent years.
Many rocks that fish were using as a refuge were buried in the sand on the creek bottom.
We couldn't see the creek bottom where many silicious marl covering stones that  scatter.

After all, the creek bottom became flat and the density of diatom was reduced in recent years.
The reasons were little rain in the rainy season in recent years.

Mullet likes to eat diatom on silicious marl covering creek-bed or shore-bed stones in a rich natural environment.

We found so many mullets in East Point this time.

We found so many whitings too.

Whiting should be the best fish for eating in sashimi style in Darwin waters.

Picnic day is a public holiday in the Northern Territory of Australia which takes place every year on the first Monday of August.

I have read many articles on "Gorgeous dishes" for the work since this morning and suddenly got a craving to eat some very nice sashimi.

I thought that I had to catch some very fresh whiting for eating in sashimi style.

So I went to Fishing & Outdoor World.
Mr. George Voukolos Jr taught me how to catch whiting there.
I needed some small hooks, ball sinkers, portable bait jar, live fish bag and frozen prawn.
George recommended a simple rig with a running sinker to me.

I waded through the shallow water.

Bogagrip (USA) is essential for my fishing life.
I had to go for the jugular with Bogagrip when I would be bitten by a friendly saltwater crocodile.  v(*'-^*)-☆
Shimano Sustain 1000FG reel and ST.CROIX fishing rod were for catching whiting today.

Shimano Stella 2500FE reel and Shimano Tcurve fishing rod were for catching barramundi as backup weapon.

I caught many bream against my will.
I didn't want to eat them because they were not tasty in sashimi style.

Noisy fish!

Noisy Trevally!

Finally, I caught a very nice whiting two hours before the lowest tide.

I caught four whiting there.

Whiting should be the best fish for eating sashimi in Darwin waters.

Finally, I caught Whiting by lure.
Whiting 1-2
TT LURES SWITCHBRADE

Finally, I caught Whiting by lure today.
It was thought that it's very hard to catch a Whiting by a lure in Darwin.
I could catch them with TT LURES SWITCHBRADE.

I used the result of Mr. Liam Hatcher's fly fishing as reference.
Liam is a young able angler.
Liam catches a very nice Whiting on fly.

I thought that red should be very attractive colour to Whiting from Liam's result.

I waited for the water going out.
I caught two Whiting just before the tide stop
Probably the season of Whiting is nearly end.
Some Whiting are going for spawning now.
If I fished them in the dry season, I could catch them easier.
After all, I needed a Pink lure.

Whiting 2

Land based, Darwin, NT, Australia

By the way, Whiting is one of the best SASHIMI (SUSHI) fish.
Keep them very fresh with ice after catching.
Whiting, soy sauce and wasabi should be very cold.

It was very, very tasty. NO.1 Sashimi in Darwin!
