Barramundi #1212
Bluesalmon #9
Squidgies Fish 70mm

July 14, Sunday.
The 2019 Darwin Lions Beer Can Regatta was held at the Mindil beach.
I had fun fishing at the Myilly point rocks in the bustle and noisy atmosphere of an annual festival event.
The wind was blowing strongly.
Still, the sea surface wasn't very wavy.
It generally blows hard but the sea surface isn't very wavy in the Mindil area at this time of year.
The water was cold.
The difference between high and low tide was small.
The tides were moving slowly.
The water was clear.
Normally, barramundi have the trait of being cautious and watchful in a very clear and calm water.
Luckily, the water was partly murky with strong wind in the shallow water.
This situation was effectual.
Someone caught a big barramundi.
I caught a 48cm barramundi and a bluesalmon.
I spread a Halco Catch Scent on a soft plastic bait every 15 minutes.
That might work.
I released a barramundi into the water.
I wanted to take the bluesalmon home and put that fish in a small tide pool.
The bluesalmon might be taken by a big bird when I was working on casting a soft plastic bait.

Barramundi #1185
Catfish #48
Golden Snapper #21
Rockcod #343
Blue Salmon #8
Trevally #49

Though it's Wednesday, the Channel Island was very crowded with fishing people.
I should avoid fishing locations where people crowd.
Thursday on November 22, I went fishing at Fannie Bay rocks.
There wasn't anyone at this place but me.
I used a 6'6" medium-action fishing rod.
Usually, a medium-action fishing rod is cheaper than a fast-action fishing rod.
I think a medium-action fishing rod useful for beginners.
You can enjoy lure fishing at reasonable price.
The result will be better than you expected.
As a result, I caught a catfish, golden snapper, rockcod and barramundi on Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm having a white colour.

Thursday on November 23, I went fishing at Mindil Beach rocks.
The weather of the wet season is unstable.
The thunder was rolling in the distance.
I used Yo-zuri Pin's Minnow 90mm having a gold colour.
I used a 8'6" long-sized medium-action fishing rod.
As a result, I caught a 50cm blue salmon.
This fish was a good fighter.

Soon, the thunderstorm broke.
I didn't want to be struck by lightning.

Sunday on November 25,
I went fishing at a place near my place.
As was to be expected, there were not many people there.
I used Yo-zuri Pin's Minnow 90mm and 8'6" long-sized medium-action fishing rod again.
As a result, I caught a 50cm GT.
This fish was very tenacious.

I made sushi with GT.
I had normal sushi and zuke-sushi for a late lunch.
The flesh in fish that was marinated in soy sauce and mirin seasoning with a little ginger.

When making sushi, forming of bite sized sweet-vinegar rice is the highlight for sushi chef to show his technique.

58cm Blue Salmon #7
Squidgies Fish 70mm Lime Lightning

Saturday of July 28
I went fishing at Channel Island.
The tides were anything but good for Channel Island.
Sure enough, only I out of four people caught fish there.
A fishing is a game that has element of chance.
Barramundi fishing whose results are difficult to predict because they are controlled by circumstances of fate.
There was no wind.
The sea surface was very flat.
A fishing is a game that has element of chance.
Only I out of four people caught fish there.
A barramundi fishing whose results are difficult to predict to because they are controlled by circumstances and fate.
The flat sea surface can give the wariness to barramundi thereby preventing them from swim in the shallow water.
The result came up to my expectations.
We didn't catch any barramundi.
On the other hand, the result was unexpected.
Normally, I use a 'Fast reel' with a 7.1:1 or 8.2:1 gear ratio, but I used a 'Slow reel' with a 5.7:1 gear ratio at that time at Channel Island.
A 'Slow reel' is effetive for the case that there is no obstacle in the shallow water.
Because the fishing location had a flat sandy and muddy bottom.
As a result, I caught a 58cm nice blue salmon on Squidgies Fish 70mm Lime Lightning colour.

A 58cm blue salmon was a very strong fish.
A quick look at my Youtube channel 'charlietomato' should make the above obvious.
Title: One of the best fights! Using a slow reel, I caught a strong Blue salmon.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgoZDAhx130

Blue salmon is not the real salmon.
Blue salmon are a good table fish.
They have a slightly oily flesh to compare with barramundi.
It is suited for eating by sushi and sashimi with soy sauce and wasabi.

By contrast, barramundi is suited for eating by sashimi with roasted sesame dressing because they don't have a oily flesh.

Trevally #45
Barramundi #998
Bluesalmon #6
Saturday fishing

Saturday, January 16, 2016
The outgoing tide was good for Cannel Island.
The incoming tide was good for East Point.
Today's productive fishing windows were comparatively long.

I went to Channel Island by my 150cc scooter first.
A video cameraman went together with me.
He sometimes filmed from the air using a drone.

The sea water was milky in colour because there was a rain last night.
There was much freshwater mixed into this.
A sea barramundi isn't active in this water, therefore, you cannot expect me to catch a nice sized barramundi in this water.

Trevally took my lure around 2:30pm.
He was as strong as a 60cm barramundi.
I used a Reidy's Lures/Junior B52/Kryptnite.

Barramundi took my lure around 3:00pm.
This was my 998th barramundi on lure by land based.
I started counting the number of barramundi that I caught on lure by land based from 2010.
I used a Sebile/Swingtail Minnow/ Cracked Firetiger.

I had no more than two fish strikings in this water after all.

And then I went to East Point alone.
There was a rain while I was driving.
The rain had stopped when I arrived at East Point.
The tide was coming.
The sea water was very milky in colour.
I couldn't expect to catch a barramundi.
Some fish were chasing their baits on the sea surface.
I thought that catfish or bluesalmon were swimming around there.
A steady retrieve-motion is preferably used for Reidy's lures/Hellraser.
However, I mixed double twitch-motions into the steady retrieve-motion.
As a result, I caught a bluesalmon.

I still fish the shore when it is rainy, but it is not the ideal time.
In my experience, the best time for catching many good-size saltwater barramundi from the shore in the rainy season is when we have had no rain for 24 hours.

SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL

Shimano Borderless 420M-T.
Free style & high spec rod.
All titanium frame Sic guide
CI4 reel seat
Separate grip
Spiral X construction
It was acquired at last.

To tell the truth, I failed to obtain Shimano Borderless 380M-T in Japan.

My 420M-T is longer than 380M-T.
420cm long!
Lure's castability is ???
Of course, I got more distance than usual.

Once fish were hooked, they can't escape from the hook because 420cm long rod has an excellent flexibility.

Saturday lunchtime
Bluesalmon 3
SQUIDGY FISH

The water was clear this morning but became very murky around lunchtime.
This small pink squidgy fish is a technique for catching a Threadfin salmon.
I used this technique for catching a target fish today because I saw many Jelly prawns.

As a result,

Even this size, this Bluesalmon has already been an adult.
Very good eating fish!

I'd like to introduce you our best teacher of catching Threadfin salmon.

Mr. Mark West

Highly experienced professional fishing guide
Highly experienced lure/fly fishing guide

Mr. Mark West taught me as follows,

Threadfin salmon live in the deep water near the mudflats.
A lot of Jelly prawn has been flushed out with the flood.
Threadfin salmon feed on tiny Jelly prawn on the flats.
They chase Jelly prawn along the shallow flats in the rainy season.
They use their whiskers to feel vibrations of Jelly prawn on the bottom.
I must cast a lure into the certain point on the shallow mudflat.
He caught 26lb up Threadfin salmon on fly before.

When we meet a pink water with a shoal of jelly prawn, he recommends me something pink for catching Threadfin salmon in colour.

You could see Mr. Mark West at Fishing and Outdoor World .
