Where to fish by the tide?
That they may understand this theory, I'll reveal my own secret.

It's still raining a bit of over my usual fishing locations.
Today's afternoon and evening were very wavy as usual in our rainy season.
I found it difficult to find the good productive fishing windows under the circumstances.
Today's tides were very good for my land based barramundi fishing.
Frequently asked questions are found in my website.
They don't know which tide is the best for their fishing.
I will answer that.
I also don't know which tide is best for their fishing because I don't know about their usual fishing locations.
The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
That they may understand this theory, I'll reveal my own secret map about Mindil Beach.

A: Outgoing tide 50-70cm deep water
B: Incoming tide 30-50cm deep water
C: Outgoing tide 50-70cm deep water
D: Incoming tide 30-50cm deep water
E: Incoming tide 30-50cm deep water
F: Outgoing tide 50-70cm deep water
G: Outgoing tide 50-70cm deep water
H: Outgoing tide 50-70cm deep water

After an ideally large-rainfall-wet season, I can catch much more barramundi on lures by land based in Mindil Beach than you expect.

Furthermore, weather conditions influence the results of fishing.
These are negative factors for my land based barramundi fishing.
  • Too much fresh water on shallows
  • Very windy
  • Very wavy
  • Very flat sea surface on shallows
  • Sudden change of water temperature

The good fishing results are usually not  expected under the above conditions.

However, things do not go by theory alone.
It is no great wonder for you to catch barramundi under the above conditions.
Because that's fishing.
But it's by sheer luck, though.

55cn Barramundi #955
Rapala flatrap
Always waiting for this tide.

Yesterday's tides were ideal for my land based fishing.
Today's tides were still very good.

04:20am - 6.31m
10:17am - 2.94m
15:59pm - 6.01m
22:52pm - 1.31m

I went to Myilly point rocks to fish at 12: 10pm.
The water was murky.
The sea surface was slightly wavy.
I had a strong feeling that a barramundi would take my lure soon.
My expectation came true.
I caught a 55cm urban saltwater barramundi at 12:20pm.
Rapala Flatrap is a very effective lure for a very difficult shallow water.
The plastic bib was easy to detach before but it was likely improved with more glue.
Twitching it with furious movement was very effective under the condition like this.

Living near the water for fishing

The tide this evening was ideal for my land based fishing.
Just as I wrote before, East Point was not so good though - the old man's rock and Ben's point become gangerous when the tide becomes greater than 3m.
So I went to Myilly Point to fish.

03:53am 1.97m
10:14am 6.43m
16:23pm 3.04m
21:53pm 5.45m

The water was very clear while the tide was going today.
I went fishing but I couldn't catch any fish at that time.

The productive fishing window came around sunset.
I caught the first barramundi at 6:30pm and the second one at 7:00pm.

The tide was coming.
The water was murky.
The sea surface was wavy.

This location was close to my place.
It took 5minutes by my 8years old 50cc scooter.

It's the Sunday-market day.
I was fishing while many people were enjoying the market noises.

Things can move fast

The tides of March 21 were as follows:
00:50am 1.24m
06:47am 7.61m
13:02pm 1.07m
19:06pm 7.89m

What actually happens in my fishing locations when the state of the difference between high and low tide is very great?
The currents caused by tides also become greater.
The sea water goes out, and comes in, more rapidly than during a neap tide.
The sea changes quickly from one state or condition to another in my fishing locations.
The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
That means that the greater tide is, the narrower productive fishing windows become.
Even in such a situation though, the fish window around the high tide becomes comparatively wide. That depends on each fishing location though.
That’s reason why I went to the Mindil Beach to fish in the early morning on March 21.
Fortunately, the sea was nicely calm and rippled.
I tried to use a new lure that I have never tried from Sebile.
The structure of this lure can be used for obtaining a powerful vibration to improve the fish attracting effect.
As a result, I caught and released a small barramundi.

Certainly, we had considerable amount of rainfall which we had hoped for and a fishing probability should go on increasing, but it depends on some sea conditions.
Barramundi #912-913
SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL
Reidy's RUBBERS

Certainly, we had considerable amount of rainfall which we had hoped for and a fishing probability should go on increasing, but it depends on some sea conditions in our wet season.

The tide:
Too fast or too slow water current should be avoided.
The best tide shifts with the best fishing.
The big tide has many chances to catch a sea barramundi but each chance has a very short fishing window.

The rainfall:
I still fish the shore when it is rainy, but it is not the ideal time.
In my experience, the best time for catching many good-size saltwater barramundi from the shore in the rainy season is when we have had no rainy for 24 hours.

The water quality:
It's easier to catch a sea barramundi in murky water than in clear water but in my experience, the sea barramundi won't take lures under the water condition of becoming murky because of the spawning of the coral.

The sea surface:
The sea barramundi comparatively won't take lures in a deadly calm water.
The sea barramundi comparatively will take lures in a slightly wavy water.
The sea barramundi comparatively won't take lures in a very wavy water.

My very good friend, Mr. Takahiro Nakamura caught two keeper-sized barramundi under the water condition of becoming slightly wavy with BOMBER LONG 14A Fire Tiger at the rocks on an urban shore when he stayed in Darwin before.
.
A fishing probability will increase rapidly when these above conditions are satisfied.

As a result, I couldn't catch any nice sized sea barramundi on Saturday and Sunday because these above conditions weren't satisfied..

21 Sept 2014

One of the best timing as I wrote that yesterday.
62cm urban saltwater barramundi #896
SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL

Yesterday, I wrote as follows,
I had high hopes for the tide today.
Many people take notice of the big tide for catching a barramundi.

(Today's tide wasn't big in September 21, 2014.)
0446 - 5.94m
1120 - 2.71m
1658 - 5.65m
2311 - 2.27m

It is a 'There's no time like the present.' among the locals who really know.
A long fish-window can be expected from that.
In addition, the sea surface was wavy in which barramundi had less wariness toward their natural enemies and could hide sense that they were approaching to their bait fish.

My words came true!  Yeah!
I caught a 62cm urban saltwater barramundi at last.
I might enjoy the good result only briefly because of the quiet September.
I also hooked one more same sized barramundi but he jumped and went away.

As you know, I'm on a diet and so I'm very hungry.
I killed this fish for my marinated dish as a result.
I'm very sorry, fish.

Perfect hooking!

I would make some nice marinated dishes with the slices of this fish.
  • marinated in soy sauce and mirin
  • marinated in miso and mirin

I strongly recommend you to use it for sushi item.

20 Sept 2014

One of the best timing!
I didn't catch any barramundi again but had 4 bites on my lures.

I had high hopes for the tide today.
Many people take notice of the big tide for catching a barramundi.

The tide in September 20, 2014
0401 - 5.56m
1049 - 3.21m
1619 - 5.17m
2228 - 2.59m

It is a 'There's no time like the present.' among the locals who really know.
A long fish-window can be expected from that.
Today's fish-window was from 11:30am to 13:00pm.

The sea surface was wavy in which barramundi had less wariness toward their natural enemies and could hide sense that they were approaching to their bait fish.

I have seen a crocodile several times here before.
Though even that, you know, is far from staying out of the water here.

What if I should be eaten by crocodile here?
A chill rarely struck for a moment to my heart.
So you've got to be a believer if you want to start the land based barramundi fishing on lures in Darwin.

About 30 - 40 cm barramundi would take these above lures.

My beloved Stella was in high glee because I always attended to her kindly.
How cute she was!  My Shimano Stella is still 2500FE.

I came to use the slim beauty knot these days because I started using Sufix 832 10lb braid.

I didn't catch any barramundi after all but I enjoyed hooking four small barramundi on lures today.
Any barramundi-bites was better than no bite.

By the way, Today is my beloved beautiful daughter's birthday.
She got a birthday message from me this early morning.

I haven't talked with her yet.
That's about it.

I love you.

Secret of the barramundi?
Secret of the tide?
Secret of the water?
Why can't you catch a barramundi at your favorite timing of the tide?

I have caught more than 820 sea barramundis on lure by land based on our urban shallows since 2010 as of December 2013.
It takes 3 - 20 minutes to get to my fishing spots from my place by my scooter.
I fish the sea barramundi at the same places every time.
Therefore, my fishing results are very good data for searching the behavior of a sea barramundi on our urban shallows.

66cm, 64cm, 67cm and 74cm Barramundis on lure by land based
Why did I catch four nice sized barramundis at that time?

When to fish?
The best tide?

First, Tide Table, Tide Times, Tide Chart are Tide Calendar are estimated data.
Every tide has more or less different condition on the estimated condition.
That's very, very important for catching sea barramundi on our urban shallows.

Someone said that the big tide should be very good for catching a barramundi.
But he couldn't catch a barramundi every big tide.

Someone said that the low tide should be very good for catching a barramundi.
But he couldn't catch a barramundi every low tide.

The things to remember:
  • The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
  • Barramundi won't take bait fish when the water current is not moving.
  • Barramundi can know the true tide condition.
  • Barramundi will take bait fish more lively when the currents become more active than usual.
  • Barramundi won't take bait fish when the currents become slower than usual.
Barramundi will react to a sudden and unexpected change of the currents.

What causes the phenomenon?
  • Changes in atmospheric pressure
  • Which way the wind blows?
  • How much the wind blows?
However, too much is as bad as too little.
Not all but most.

The best water condition?
  • Every barramundi has a favorite quantity of light in the water.
  • Every barramundi has a favorite quantity of light to take bait fish.
That is not mere quantity of light in the water.
  •  Every barramundi has a favorite quantity of light to take bait fish in the water all its own in the day time.
  • Every barramundi has a favorite quantity of light to take bait fish in the water all its own in the night time.
It is thought that it depends on the body size of barramundi.

What causes the phenomenon?
  • The surface-condition of the water
  • Increase or decrease of plankton in the water
  • Inflow amount of the muddy water
However, too much is as bad as too little.
Not all but most.

I wrote this article casually for beginners of the land based barramundi fishing on our shallows.
Don't take it seriously!
Use this article at your own risk, please. ☆⌒(*^-゚)v Thanks!!
