Weekend fishing Reefcod #2-#3 TT LURES SWITCHBLADE Challeng a big Shovelnosed ray

Saturday afternoon

I didn't expect to catch a barramundi on our shallows and so went to family-type rocks at East Point.
I usually don't come this place.
There were 10 people there.
They tried to catch fish with squid bait.

I used a blade lure.
As a result, I caught two small reef cods.

By the way,
I was frustrated recently because I didn't catch barramundis.
So I needed to challenge a big fish to a fight.

I have a card up my sleeve.
I know that I can catch a big fish comparably easier by land based in this season too.
It's a big shovel nosed ray.
The 1m - 1.2m sized one will be caught.

I went fishing to the jetty of Darwin Stokes hill wharf around 7:30am on Sunday.
My fishing gears today as follows,

Reel: ABU 7000iHSN

Rod: Fenwick 196-6 5-8kg

Line: Fireline XDS 0.33mm

Leader line: JINKAI 60lb

I used beef steak as bait.
A big shovel nosed ray took it on the bottom around a jetty pylon.
I fought this big fish for 15 minutes but the 60lb leader line broke.

It is thought that these big 1m - 1.2m shovel nosed rays still swim on our shallows in this season too.
They take any baits.
I think that I can't stop their running away after hooking with my spinning tackles on our shallows.

Neap tide Rockcod 205-206 TT LURES SPINNERBAIT

The tides were not big.
Especially the tide this afternoon was very small.
The water current was very slow.

Even if the water current was very slow, I could catch a Barramundi if the surface of the water rippled.
But the surface of the water was too flat this evening.

So I decided to go to the Rockcod Heaven rocks.
Normally I didn't go there because of the quick incoming tide.
I can't stay longer than 30minutes there.
But I can stay 2hours this evening.

I chose a bait cast reel and rod.
The drag tension was very tight just in case.
Rockcod run into the oyster rocks here.
I can't give any runs more than 50cm to them.
Otherwise I'll lose lures and fish here.

I tried a spinnerbait.
It did work!

Saturday's Stonefish 1 TT LURES SWITCHBRADE

It's very dangerous for wading in Darwin water.
This fish can kill anglers very easy.

The Reef Stonefish is the most venomous fish in the world. It has thirteen stout spines in the dorsal fin which can inject a highly toxic venom. The venom causes intense pain and is believed to have killed many Pacific and Indian Ocean islanders.

I caught this fish at the place where Mr. Brett Parsons often waded.

Reef fishing by land based Reefcod #1 TT LURES SWITCHBRADE

It's a neap tide today.
I had given up catching Barramundi today.

Talking of the neap tide, we know that the reef fishing should be good.
And so I went to the rocks near the reef.

I caught a small reef cod.
Normally, a reef cod is much softer and tastier than Rockcod in fresh.
But this reef cod was too small to keep.

Finally, I caught Whiting by lure. Whiting 1-2 TT LURES SWITCHBRADE

Finally, I caught Whiting by lure today.

It was thought that it's very hard to catch a Whiting by a lure in Darwin.

I could catch them with TT LURES SWITCHBRADE.

I used the result of Mr. Liam Hatcher's fly fishing as reference.
Liam is a young able angler.
Liam catches a very nice Whiting on fly.

I thought that red should be very attractive colour to Whiting from Liam's result.

I waited for the water going out.
I caught two Whiting just before the tide stop
Probably the season of Whiting is nearly end.
Some Whiting are going for spawning now.
If I fished them in the dry season, I could catch them easier.
After all, I needed a Pink lure.

By the way, Whiting is one of the best SASHIMI (SUSHI) fish.
Keep them very fresh with ice after catching.
Whiting, soy sauce and wasabi should be very cold.

It was very, very tasty. NO.1 Sashimi in Darwin!
