Learn it from Super fishos!
The river fishing
Mr. Matt West
Mr. Stewie Martin

Many local barramundi fishermen are waiting for this coming great 'Run-off' now.

I normally fish by land based in Darwin.
I went fishing to the monsoon-flood river last Sunday.
My experiences by land based were very poor on the river.
As a result, I didn't catch any fish.

On the other hand, I learned something interesting from Mr. Stewie Martin at that time.
I found that his fishing rig was similar as a Barra Classic 2010 Champion's rig.
Of course, he doesn't imitate it.
That means that two super fishos individually use the similar rig on the river.

Stewie is my favorite fishing columnist of NT News.

Super fisho, Stewie Martin was using a following rig at the monsoon-flood river on Sunday.

Super fisho, Matt West used the following rig at the tournament of Barra Classic 2010.

They use many rigs.
Probably these above rigs are one of them to two super fishos.
I simply understand why they used a weedless hook.
These Texas rigs should be very effective for catching barramundi under some difficult and tough conditions on the river.
The action itself of these lures should be very effective for catching barramundi on the river also.

Barramundi
RAPALA SXR-12 X-RAP
Rainy season
BY MR. PHIL NEWTON

This is a major Barramundi fishing in Darwin NT.

This above RAPALA SXR-10 (PIKE) is my own using lure.

RAPALA SXR-12 X-RAP SRASHBAIT

Colour: Pike

Size: 120mm

Where: Adelaide river (Darwin NT)

Water: Tannin water

Tuning:

Line: PE15lb BASSHARD + Leader line 30lb (・_・;)

Knot: Improved Albright knot

Rod: ST.CROIX Legend elite Fast action Baitcast

Reel: SHIMANO CORE 50mg

Action:

Extreme attitude with its hard cutting, aggressive darting action

Mr. Phil Newton is not an amateure.
I'm an amateture of Barramundi fishing.

Professional angler is much different from me.
I try to catch Barramundi somehow or other.
But Mr. Phil Newton caught a big Barramundi with the lightest tackle.
It made an impression on me.

I have learned a lot from him.

I frequently visit the local fishing shop. I can see and listen to much better experienced anglers than me there. It's very lucky me. If I tried to improve my fishing by myself without a teacher, I would spend much more unnecessary time and money for me to become an efficient angler.
I can see Mr. Matt West (Barramundi Classic Champion 2010) there.
I can see Fishing and Outdoor World's Mr. Ron Voukolos (The highest allround experienced angler) there.

The internet doesn't give me very true tactics. (-^〇^-)
That's why I ask them about their thinking procedure of catching Barramundi.
Let's go to the local fishing shop!

Very nice Barramundi was caught by Mr. Phil Newton.

RIVER BARRAMUNDI

Daly river has produced very exciting barramundi fishing.

The water colour is very different from the shore based barramundi fishing. However, floating shallow diver minnows are very efficient for the river water just after rainy season.

YO-ZURI CRYSTAL MINNOW also did work for my shore based barramundi fishing as follows,

Barramundi lures on River & Creek & Billabong

Major barramundi fishing in Northern Territory, Australia.

The Run Off (Mar-May):
The Kakadu region, The Daly River, Shady camp, The South Alligator River, The Mary River.

During the Dry Season Months (May – Oct):
Corroboree Billabong, Shady Camp Billabong, Mary River Bridge Lagoon, Hardys Lagoon, Adelaide River.

This video shows what to look for in a NT Barra Lure for Billabong Fishing.

☆A bait fish pattern

☆Diving depth of 1 metre

☆Green in colour

☆A good rattle

☆Useful loop knot

Daly River, Roper, Mary, McArthur, Finniss, Adelaide, The South and East Alligator Rivers, Bynoe Harbour, Cobourg Peninsula and Melville Island are major places too.

These above lures are popular on the river, the creek and the billabong barramundi fishing.

Very popular Australian Barramundi lures. Classic lures consistently win barramundi tournaments for anglers, mainly due to the fact that there’s a Classic Lure for each and every barra scenario – the 30 colours plus in the range see to that.

My fishing tackle for River, Creek and Billabong.
This tackle is very good for casting and trolling lures.

Lure: LUCKY CRAFT STAYSEE 90SP Ver.2

Colour: Black/Gold

Size: 90mm

Tuning: Need strong hooks and split-rings

Water: Clear - Murky on the river

Rod: WILSON & Co. Live Fibre Teritory Barra 8kg
Size: 5'6'' RLFTBD81 Medium Heavy Power
Grip: 1&1/2 handed deluxe

Reel: SHIMANO CURADO 300E
Max drg: 7kg
Tuning: Changed SS Bearings into ARB

Line: Power Pro PE50LB
Leader: Seaguar FLUOROCARBON 0.62mm Dia. at least!
Knot: The kaneit knot

High strength, abrasion resistance and durability
I think that the abrasion resistance is the most important factor for the barramundi fishing.

The drag sometimes must lock up barramundi in response to the necessity.

Mr. Jason Medcalf is talking tackle for catching Barramundi on the above video.
