but, oh dear!
I'm on a diet when I don't fish.

but, oh dear!

I decided to go on a diet when I couldn't fish in some season.
One month has passed since I started my diet.
I'm restraining myself from eating foods with a lot of carbohydrates for my diet.

Originally, I had to go on a diet for health reason.
I successfully lost ten kilos in three weeks without any problems.
But I had a bit of a remission in my diet recently.
I couldn't reduce more body weight.

I'm originally Japanese, and have been so.
I originally lived on rice.
Restoring to rice-eating, I could repair my strength and recover my mental tone.

Of course, I'm still on a diet without dinner.
And then I could reduce 11kilos in total since I started my diet.

Rice, apple, tomato and yogurt are essential for my diet.
Of course, some little meat also.

Writing like this, I just want to cut off my retreat.
It's not as easy as it seems.
Now, I really understand that.

20 Sept 2014

One of the best timing!
I didn't catch any barramundi again but had 4 bites on my lures.

I had high hopes for the tide today.
Many people take notice of the big tide for catching a barramundi.

The tide in September 20, 2014
0401 - 5.56m
1049 - 3.21m
1619 - 5.17m
2228 - 2.59m

It is a 'There's no time like the present.' among the locals who really know.
A long fish-window can be expected from that.
Today's fish-window was from 11:30am to 13:00pm.

The sea surface was wavy in which barramundi had less wariness toward their natural enemies and could hide sense that they were approaching to their bait fish.

I have seen a crocodile several times here before.
Though even that, you know, is far from staying out of the water here.

What if I should be eaten by crocodile here?
A chill rarely struck for a moment to my heart.
So you've got to be a believer if you want to start the land based barramundi fishing on lures in Darwin.

About 30 - 40 cm barramundi would take these above lures.

My beloved Stella was in high glee because I always attended to her kindly.
How cute she was!  My Shimano Stella is still 2500FE.

I came to use the slim beauty knot these days because I started using Sufix 832 10lb braid.

I didn't catch any barramundi after all but I enjoyed hooking four small barramundi on lures today.
Any barramundi-bites was better than no bite.

By the way, Today is my beloved beautiful daughter's birthday.
She got a birthday message from me this early morning.

I haven't talked with her yet.
That's about it.

I love you.

The Slim Beauty Knot

I have a strong preference for that.
That's a "Line connection of a fishing line".
Especially, I'm interested in "Braid to leader knots for catching barramundi".

I have been using the kaneit knot for many years.
It was originally designed to catch a big sized barramundi by Mr. Kane Dysart.
It is, in a word, an unfailing method.
That's fishing knot for when you have to make a knot to catch a big sized barramundi as soon as possible.

I also created a high-convenience line connection of fishing line, the slim straight knot, with inspiration from the kaneit knot.

I mostly imitated the kaneit knot as a result as above.

Recently, I often came to use the slim beauty knot because I started using the Sufix 832 10lb braid line.

Fishing lines have made rapid progress.
I chose Sufix 832 10lb braid line even out those.
The truth was that I was strongly recommended it by Mr. Ronald Voukolos and Mr. Matt West at Fishing & Outdoor World.
I thought that it is an absolute fishing line having high strength and flexibility free from entanglement for the spinning reels.

Now, I started using the slim beauty knot to utilize Sufix 832 10lb braid line characteristics to the utmost extent.

In everyday life in September

I don't have a boat now.
Not only had I no boat, but I had not the slightest desire to have one over the years.

I haven't caught any barramundi recently.
Every year my land-based barramundi fishing is quietest in September.

I love the land based barramundi fishing very much.
But I could never be a true man of my word.
I really want a boat because there is no fish on our urban shallows in September.

I have made it rule to not use the car in order to save.
I drive the scooter every day.
That means that I range between the Mindil Beach and the East Point.

There was once a time when I had my own some nice boats.
I had the Yellowfin 6.4m with Evinrude 150hp made to order also.
That's really a great boat.
I caught many nice sized Spanish mackerel in September.
A wife?  I think so.

Very quiet in September.
"There is nothing to be done."

This above food is my favorite food.
But I'm on a diet.

Recently, I found pleasure in having a mouthwash with LISTERINE.
I find much enjoyment in fishing, don't I?

15 Sept 2014

54 years old now.

Thank you everyone for your kind birthday wishes.

I was born in Kagoshima, Japan in September 15, 1960.

Now, I live by the sea in Darwin.

And I always try to catch a barramundi.

I think that two traits of Darwin people are generosity and energy.
Thanks to Darwin people, I came to be able to think that I want to enjoy my life, both the good times and bad.

And with that, if I could be born again, I would like to be a T..........................................

I hope for a good life for you!

I still went fishing all right, but I didn't catch any fish after all.
Hiro's fishing in September

When used casually in my blog, this article can be considered to be corner-cutting.
I went fishing all right today.
But I didn't catch any fish as a result.

And with that, I have some pictures to show you.
This walk-through was named "Hiro's land based fishing tour".

This urban rock wall has many precarious footholds because of the difference in height: 7 meters between the upper and the lower.
I once tumbled off here.
I thought I was going to die at that time.

The knee pads and rock spike boots are essential for me here.

The elbow pads are essential for me also.

Whenever it's wet under foot I must move carefully.
Thus my weight was more than 95kg when I was the heaviest.
It was quite dangerous.
That's reason why I'm on a diet.

I couldn't catch any fish at that rock wall after all and so I went to an urban shallow water. next.
That means that "Look out!  There will be a crocodile coming."
That is not much of a problem here.

That is a nice place to see and walk also.

It looked very cool and shady.
"Not it."

I heard the sound of waves rushing ashore.
This was the passage to the sea.

The sea came into  sight.

I had to wade through the shallow water.
I confirmed that a crocodile was not here.

The incoming tide is quite dangerous here.
It means knowing when enough is enough.

As a result, I couldn't catch any fish today.

I posted these following articles before.

I was suddenly accosted by someone at the shop on the way there.
He said, "We will soon be catching more barramundi because the water temperature is rising now."
I only smiled at that time.
As many attentive readers of my fishing blog have already known, I didn't catch many fish in this coming season every year on our urban shallow waters.
The season, from the middle of August to the beginning of October, that the water temperature is rising should be the most difficult time to catch fish on our urban shallow waters to me.
That is more difficult than the winter season.
An unanticipated situation occurred in this winter.
Normally, I caught some nice sized barramundi even in the cold water.
I couldn't catch many barramundi in this winter even though we had a very good monsoon rainy season last time.
I would have never imagined that.

People generally believe that more barramundi will take lures in September because the water temperature is increasing.
Is it really the case?
In so far as my fishing location, it seems that barramundi won't take lures on our urban shallows while the water temperature is increasing even to compare with the winter season.
I should correct it into a more suitable expression.
Barramundi won't come to our urban shallows in that season.
Probably, the reason is why the absolute number of mullet is small on our urban shallows in that season.

We can't certainly expect more barramundi with a highly active condition under a low water temperature.
In addition, barramundi becomes more cautious against lures in a very clear water of the winter season.
However, barramundi must eat to live and so they will take lures on an empty stomach even in the cold water.
We can expect to catch more barramundi on our urban shallows in June and July rather than in September in that kind of meaning.
For some reason I couldn't catch a suitable number of barramundi in June and July this year.

So, what shall we do with it?
Very easy!
We don't need to push ourselves to catch barramundi on our urban shallows in these above season.

From my experience, it should be a very good season for catching Spanish mackerel in September around Darwin.
