That technology has progressed immensely in these last few years.

Very nice!
You can pack traveling rod 5pcs. kit into your bag.

SHIMANO STRADIC CI4 2500F
Only 198gm!
You can catch a metery barramundi with this small reel.

Flathead loves pink in colour!
Very true!
'Stop and go' should be very effective for them.

Walking on the beach, Mr. Mark West (Fishing and Outdoor World) fished a flathead with Spanyid Sniper Vibes (Pink) when he and his family were in Queens Land on holiday.

Rod: Berkley 5pcs. Traveling rod.
Reel: Shimano Stradic CI4 2500F

Very nice holiday fishing!

How to use Spanyid Lures for best results

Learn it from Super fishos!
The river fishing
Mr. Matt West
Mr. Stewie Martin

Many local barramundi fishermen are waiting for this coming great 'Run-off' now.

I normally fish by land based in Darwin.
I went fishing to the monsoon-flood river last Sunday.
My experiences by land based were very poor on the river.
As a result, I didn't catch any fish.

On the other hand, I learned something interesting from Mr. Stewie Martin at that time.
I found that his fishing rig was similar as a Barra Classic 2010 Champion's rig.
Of course, he doesn't imitate it.
That means that two super fishos individually use the similar rig on the river.

Stewie is my favorite fishing columnist of NT News.

Super fisho, Stewie Martin was using a following rig at the monsoon-flood river on Sunday.

Super fisho, Matt West used the following rig at the tournament of Barra Classic 2010.

They use many rigs.
Probably these above rigs are one of them to two super fishos.
I simply understand why they used a weedless hook.
These Texas rigs should be very effective for catching barramundi under some difficult and tough conditions on the river.
The action itself of these lures should be very effective for catching barramundi on the river also.

Monsoon-flood fishing
Mr. Stewie Martin
Mr. Andy Congram
Hiro

It's a great monsoon season this time.
We have had continuous rains since last December.

Stewie took Andy and me to the monsoon-flood fishing on Sunday.
He has a very safe and tough boat with 140hp Suzuki powers.

Let me introduce Mr. Stewie Martin to overseas readers.

He is a fishing columnist of NT News also.

Let me introduce Mr. Andy Cogram to overseas readers.

He is a great fly fisherman.

The floods have not yet subsided.

More floods.

The water nearly came up to the bridge girder.

Stewie caught a nice high-shoulder barramundi.
He is very good at casting and controlling lures.
Much better than me.

Tannin!

Andy hooked some barramundis on fly.
The fly Andy cast went into the small spot.
Beautiful!

I didn't catch any fish.
My experience by land based was poor on the river!

Cleared!

Storm!

We enjoyed Monsoon-flood fishing very much.
☆⌒(*^-゚)v Thanks!! Stewie and Andy!

This coming run-off may be his last challenge before leaving Darwin to a great barramundi angler.
Three metery barramundis on fly
Mr. Andy Congram

I heard that a great barramundi angler decided to leave Darwin.
This coming run-off may be his last challenge for catching a metery barramundi before leaving Darwin to Andy.

I'm honored that I can become friends with you, Mr. Andy Congram.
I asked him to send me some pictures on his fishing and asked him some questions.

And then I received following pictures and his answers to those questions.

Andy's metery barramundi #1 on fly in Shoal Bay

Andy's metery barramundi #2 on fly at Marsh Creek

Andy's metery barramundi #3 on fly at Marsh Creek

  • My biggest Barra land based was 82cm in the Vic River.
  • I don't do much land based, generally only searching for Permit along the beaches.
  • For targeting metreys in the run off I use a 10 weight rod, intermediate or 350-400 grain fly line, 40-60lb leader, and generally a fly called FatBoy in chartreuse or white on a 8/0 Gamakatsu SL12s. Then it's a matter of join the masses at one of the coastal creeks, or Shoal Bay, and cast til your arm nearly falls off!
  •  I'll be here for another couple-few months mate.
  • Time to get another one or two big girls!
  • Ahh, no worries Hiro - always happy to share fishing stories and info.
  • The last of those metreys was about three years ago.
  • I mostly sight fish the flats of Bynoe or Darwin Harbour, as I prefer to get away from other anglers, and one fish sight cast is worth ten caught blind I believe.
  • Here's a pic of my best fish off the flats off Bynoe - 86 cm.

  • This was last year in the buildup.

  • Tarpon. Mexico about 6 or 7 years ago I think from memory.

  • Here's a dollie...

  • Sailfish on fly
  • Yeah, whilst I'm living here, but I might revisit in the future...plenty more species to target.  So far I have caught over 80 species on fly, I would like to account for more than 100 before 2014 is done - that is my angling goal for this year.
  • I have written and co-written a few articles for FlyLife
  • Cheers Hiro, until I started my business three years ago, I used to fish every weekend - fly only for the past 8 or 9 years.  I like to push myself into challenging fly fishing situations and set the bar pretty high if you know what I mean.
 ☆⌒(*^-゚)v Thanks!! Andy.
I'll ask you some questions when I want to know about fishing.

Thank you very much.

Glass Ghost and Pearl Ghost should be the best white in colour for catching a nice sized barramundi on our shallows.

Torrential monsoon rains haven't stopped yet.
It's not easy to find the chance to catch a barramundi recently.
There are some nice jetties in Darwin.
Those jetties are raged by strong rains and very wavy waters.
But the jetty 'X' missed the rough condition.

My fishing fields are too rough to fish now.
I know that the water of the jetty 'X' should be calm enough for fishing by its geographic feature when fishing is suspended at the other jetties.
It was the spring tide.
Normally, the fish-window is very, very short at the spring tide.
It's not easy to catch a barramundi on our shallows at the spring tide.

Everyone was enjoying a bait fishing there.
I started a lure fishing.
I knew the best timing at this point at the spring tide.
Soon I caught a nice keeper-size barramundi.
I enjoyed fighting with the fish more than necessary because it was attracting their attentions.
But that was the weak ending.
The fish was as nearly as possible caught by me with my bogagrip.
I couldn't reach the fish.
I caught a very heavy hand-line with my lure also in the end.
How embarrassing!

By the way, I had caught a nice keeper-size barramundi at the same point.
I used a Rapala XRD8 / Glass Ghost at that time.

And I caught a nice keeper-size barramundi with a Svage Gear Manic Prey 90 / Pearl Ghost this time.

White-colour itself is very effective for catching a barramundi on ouw shallws.
These above Glass Ghost and Pearl Ghost should be the best white for catching a nice sized barramundi on our shallows in colour.
It can handle many waters.
Especially the water-line between brown water and green water.

The size of the lure is very important because of the bait-size on our shallows.
You must keep it in your tackle box when you fish on our shallows.

Barra Man caught a bream in Melbourne.
ZIP BAITS
Mr. Carlo Chonga Esmaquel

I didn't see my very good friend, Chonga, for a while.
I heard that he was in Melbourne on holiday.
Originally, Chonga came from Melbourne.
And he is a very experienced and skilled barramundi fisherman now.

I asked him to send me some pictures of his fishing in Melbourne.
And I received an e-mail with a nice picture.
☆⌒(*^-゚)v Thanks!! Chonga.
