64cm Barramundi #1116 by Hiro
62cm Barramundi by Mr. Keith Watson

My very good fishing friend, Keith Watson and I went fishing at Channel Island on January 20.
It rained hard on the previous day.
There was much fresh water in the shallow water.
We didn't have any fish bites for a while.
It was sunny, but in the meantime it began to rain.
I thought that the sky looked lowering, but it wouldn't be much of a storm.
I spoke to Keith.
"The very beginning of rain is a big chance to catch a barramundi on shore."
Rainfalls and clouds changed the water colour of the sea from moment to moment.
We matched the colour of our lures with the constantly varying water colour.
Keith used Berkley Gulp Swimming Mullet 10cm Pumpkinseed.

As a result, he caught a 62cm barramundi.

I was casting lures at a deeper water than Keith's fishing point.
The reason I chose Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring was because its colour also matched with the water colour.

As a result, I caught a 64cm barramundi.
Things did go by theory this time.

Barramundi is very cautious

Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm

January 14, Sunday, I went fishing at Channel Island.
Including me, there were 4 people at the fishing spot.
My good fishing friend, Matt Cook (Cookie), stood apart from us.
He was standing knee-deep in the soft mad.
It's a dangerous state of affairs because there was a crocodile's habitat.
I could conceive why he had done such a thing.
Because barramundi is very cautious in the shallow water.
Barramundi can perceive something dangerous from the mood prevalent in a place.
As a result, Cookie caught a nice sized barramundi.

January 14, 2018 / Matt Cook

He used Zerek Live Cherabin 100mm Green colour.

After all, nobody other than Cookie caught a barramundi at Channel Island.
Barramundi take green lures in colour at this time of the year.

I also caught a 56cm barramundi on a green lure the previous day.

In addition, I used a green lure for catching a mangrovejack about this time two years ago.

About this time last year, I saw many large sized jelly prawn in my usual fishing location.

The seawater is murky green in colour in my usual fishing locations during this period.
Matching lure colour in water colour first, I sometimes use lure that resembles bait.
That has prompted me to this conclusion.

56cm Barramundi #1115
Samaki Boom Bait 4" Bomb Shad

January 13, Saturday, I went fishing at Channel Island in the morning.
The tide was going out.
The sea was calm.
I used a top-water lure of Lucky Craft Sammy 115mm for barramundi.
I hooked a nice sized barramundi but couldn't land him up.
And then I went straight to East Point too.
The tide was coming into the shallow water.
I caught a 56cm barramundi on Samaki Boom Bait 4" Bomb Shad.
This was my first time using this lure.

71cm Barramundi #1114
Squidgies Fish 70mm
8m tide

The tides were very big, with the 8m tide, on January 4.
I went fishing at Channel Island.
The drift of the tide was very fast.
The situation of the seawater was changing every minute.
The best tide normally shifts with the best fishing point every hour.
However, the best tide shifted with the best fishing point every 15minute at that time.
The seawater came up to my knees.
The seawater was murky.
I was casting lures while being cautious about the oncoming of a crocodile in the shallow water.
The productive fishing window was very short when the tides were very big.
That was a once-in-a-short productive fishing window.
Adding a scent of Squidgies S-Factor as a fishing attractant to my soft plastic lure, I caught a 71cm barramundi.

71cm Barramundi / January 4, 2018

I used a small soft plastic shad lure of Squidgies Fish.
Ultimately, the success of the land based barramundi fishing in my usual fishing locations depends on the casting distance of small lures.
The very thin and strong fishing line is very helpful and useful to my land based barramundi fishing.
As fishing tools improved, I can enjoy my land based barramundi fishing.
Light and durable fishing reel and rod are very helpful to me too.

ZMan 3" MinnowZ Swimbait

It's not a good weather on January 1 in 2018.
I went fishing at Channel Island on January 2.
It's a calm weather.
I couldn't land up a nice sized barramundi because the braid line broke with a snap.
I didn't notice that the tip top line guide of my fishing rod broke.
It too often escapes my memory.
It's a windy day on January 3.
I went fishing to Channel Island again.
The seawater was not so clean.
The tide water was moving quickly.
I used Squidgies S-Factor which contains a mix of attack and feeding triggers that will help you catch more fish.
S-Factor is more than a scent or masking agent.
As a result, I caught a 59cm barramundi on Squidgy Pro Mongrel 90mm Aussie Herring.
It's this year's first barramundi of mine.

The colour of "Morning Glory" probably would be effective for the dirty water.

This year's final barramundi
Squidgies Fish 70mm

The seawater had much freshwater in my usual fishing locations after the heavy rains.
Barramundi wouldn't bite my lures firmly.
I hooked but missed one barramundi.
Finally, I caught a 51cm barramundi.
I used Squidgies S-Factor.
