Where did urban saltwater barramundi go from my usual fishing locations recently?
Flathead #58-60

I only caught some flathead these days but I didn't catch any barramundi from the 15th of August.
I only saw my friend caught a small barramundi on Squidgies Fish Drop-Bear on the night of the 23rd of August at the East Point.
I think that urban saltwater barramundi in my usual fishing locations on shore return or go to the estuaries, rivers or creeks at this time of the year.
During this period, from the middle of August to the beginning of October, I rarely catch urban saltwater barramundi by land based in my usual fishing locations on shore.
As you know, spawning of barramundi occurs around river mouths and marine bays early in the wet season.  If that is so, we will be able to catch barramundi there.
We can't go there without the boat to fish after all.
Mature fish are gathering in marine bays and river mouths to spawn.
Young male urban saltwater barramundi probably go there too.
On the other hand, I think that those young male urban saltwater barramundi who go to urban creeks or rivers are not few.
In any case, those young male urban saltwater barramundi will become female in future.
When the sea water temperature starts to rise, young male urban saltwater barramundi may move to the rivers or creeks potentially.  They may practice something for their future performance

During this period, I know that some people still catch saltwater barramundi in a harbor.
I have been looking for an ideal example of the life cycle of those young male urban saltwater barramundi.
I heard that Mr. Matthew Butler caught 5 young male urban saltwater barramundi with 64cm to 40cm in length at the Blackmore river in a harbor recently.

Don't make any mistake, I have never said that I cannot catch any barramundi during this period.
I just say that I can't expect to get many good chances.  In additions, there are inequalities in level of the fishing result within fishing locations.

There are the results that I caught young male urban saltwater barramundi by land based in my usual fishing locations in September in the past as follows,
September 2014
62cm Sep-21, 70cm Sep-27 and 1 small barramundi
September 2013
51cm Sep-11, 70cm Sep-21, 53cm Sep-22, 58cm Sep-28, 57cm Sep-30 and 5 small barramundi
September 2012
2 small barramundi
September 2011
9 small barramundi

I comparatively caught some better sized barramundi in the late September.

On the other hand, Mr. Alex Patasaldies and Mr. George Voukolos Jr sometimes caught very nice metery barramundi by land based in the Daly river in September.

It is not difficult to catch flathead during this period every year.
They love glittering lures in the daytime.

Barramundi #969
Squidgies Fish Drop-Bear

I bought a Squidgies Fish Drop-bear 100mm/1/4oz #5/0 jighead from Fishing & Outdoor World after work on Friday afternoon.

As far as I have experienced, a Squidgies Fish Drop-bear was a very effective lure after the dry season.

Saturday night, we had pretty much started to give up on that.
We hadn't had any fish-strikings by that time.
I used a Squidgies Fish Drop-Bear 100mm with a jighead 1/4oz #5/0.
Finally I caught a 51cm urban saltwater barramundi.

It's a very quiet day for my land based fishing on Sunday.
I only had two fish-strikings.
But I caught two fish.

I went to the Channel Island first.
I caught and released a very nice restaurant sized cod there.
That's all.

August 15, 2015 Rockcod #335

I went to the East Point next.
I cast a Squidgies Fish Drop-bear to the rocks.
It's very important to place it in the right spot.
It had to pass close to the rocks.
As a result, I caught an urban saltwater barramundi.
I tried various lures.
After all, Squidgies Fish Drop-bear did work!

64cm Dry season's saltwater barramundi #967
Squidgies Fish
The best sashimi in Darwin

Today's tides were ideal for my land based barramundi fishing.

So I went to Fishing & Outdoor World to buy Squidies Fish Drop Bear 100mm and Jighead 1/4oz #5/0 and repair my fishing rod on Sunday morning.
I didn't go fishing in the day time.
I met Toshimitsu at the car parking in the East Point at 8:15pm.
The incoming tide started moving around 9:00pm at the East Point.
There was no moonlight.
The sound of approaching footsteps wading through the shallow water roused us.
We moved to another rocks just in case.
The water was very clear and still cold.
I said to Toshimitsu, "Just to warn you in advance, today's situation is very good and so I won't use lure-clip and will concentrate on using a Squidgies Fish Drop-Bear 100mm."
The result was as I expected.
I  caught a 64cm dry season's solid saltwater barramundi.

It might seem hard to believe.
From the middle of August to the beginning of October, it's the quietest season for the land based barramundi fishing in my fishing locations every year without an exception.
Some people believe that barramundi will be taking lures from the middle of August because the water temperature is getting warmer.

That's an information regarding the land based fishing in my fishing locations.

You still can fish many Spanish-mackerel in a blue water.
You still can fish some nice sized Thredfin-salmon  and really big catfish in an estuary of the big river.
If you have a boat, you will be able to catch many fish from the middle of August to the beginning of October.

By the way, the dry season's saltwater barramundi is the best sashimi fish in Darwin.

You can eat very fresh barramundi's raw slices with these following dressings.

The fresh raw slices should be preserved freshly and hygienically and eaten within 2 days after you caught the barramundi.
Very yummy!
It is not recommended to be eaten with soy sauce and wasabi.
This dressing should be the best for barramundi sashimi.

PIETRO DRESSING
The sea barramundi is a very clean fish to be eaten in raw.

KEWPIE Roasted Sesame Dressing
You can buy this dressing from Woolworth and Coles.

Darren caught a barramundi Mitsutoshi hooked a barramundi but I didn't hook and catch any barramundi.
I caught a 45cm nice local flathead on a suspending lure.
The instant I stopped twitching a suspending lure, this flathead took it.

54cm Barramundi #966 on Sebile Swingtail
Queenfish #26 on Lucky Craft Babyshad
Flathead #55 on Lucky Craft Beefreeze

Today's tides were very big.
It's very difficult to catch a barramundi by land based because the productive fishing windows were very short.
My good friend, Chonga took me to the Channel Island to fish by his car this morning.
First I caught a queenfish on a suspending Lucky Craft Babyshad with a fine adjustment.
Second I caught a flathead on a suspending Lucky Craft Beefreeze with a fine adjustment. Finally I caught a 54cm urban saltwater barramundi on Sebile Swingtail.

The factory made suspending lures will rise slowly or sink slowly.
I need a true suspending lure for our cold waterfishing.
What's a true suspending lure?
When you stop reeling, the lure stops at the depth that the lure was at that point.
The lure just hovers in place.

The buoyancy of sea water is different from the buoyancy of fresh water.
Using a saltwater having a salt concentration of sea water, after several experiments, I finally succeeded in making an effective suspending lure for our cold water fishing.

This lure was originally a suspending lure for fresh water.
I added or reduced the sprit rings.
I changed the sizes of the treble hooks.

Today's tides were big and so the productive fishing windows were very short.
The moon was bright and so I didn't go to the shore.
I went to an urban creek to fish with Mitsutoshi Sato.
Delayed by the quicker tide than I had expected, we started late.
The water was very clear and still cold.
The time allowed to fish in that productive fishing window was limited to only 10minutes.
We caught these barramundi within 10minutes after we arrived at this creek tonight.
We used the suspending minnows with fine adjustment.
We released them back to the water.
