My first barramundi in September 51cm Barramundi #793 SQUIDGY FISH

The sea water was murky in colour.
The surface of the sea was slightly wavy.
It's a very nice condition.

Normally, I used 1/8oz #3/0 sized jig-head for 80mm sized SQUIDGY FISH.
But I used 1/4oz #2/0 sized jig-head for 80mm sized SQUIDGY FISH today.

This choice was very effective for the strong water current here.

As a result, I caught a very strong fish.

Barramundi must eat to live.
They must take their baits somewhere.

Sunday morning Every dog has his day. Rockcod #301 LUCKY CRAFT POINTER 78XD

After all I couldn't catch barramundi.
But every dog has his day.

I found that LUCKY CRAFT POINTER 78XD should be a very, very nice lure for the land based fishing.

This lure has a long bib and so can swim in 3m deep.
On the other hand, this lure can swim in 50cm deep on the shallows.
We have to retrieve it with the tip of the rod up overhead.

Firstly, I caught a rockcod in very rocky shallow water.
Secondly, this nice lure was taken away by a sharp toothed fish.

Diamond trevally, Queen fish and Mackerel Mr. Dave Krantz Mr. Glenn Hubble

I haven't caught any barramundis since August 25.

On the other hand, these friends of mine enjoyed their fishing in September very much.
They know where they should go fishing and how they fish in September very well.

I  asked Dave to send me his recent fishing data and pictures three days ago.
Otherwise I won't be able to prepare the next article of my fishing column on Tuesday.

I hope you are well.
Last week I went fishing at the Vernons with Glenn Hubble and Quinton Pope.
We started off flicking lures around some of the shallow reefs surrounding the islands.
I chucked a big popper about for a while but with no success.
In theory this approach should attract GTs but it's hard work so I soon switched to other lures!
We caught a variety of small reef fish and I got a couple of diamond trevally on small plastics.
They are an unusual looking fish, very skinny with long trailing filaments on their fins.

Diamond trevally was caught by Mr. Dave Krantz.

When the tide changed we started jigging around a deeper reef.
There was occasional surface activity and casting produced some nice queenies and mackerel.
When the surface action subsided we dropped jigs down and got some more macks.
They were feeding on small whitebait and were only interested in small jigs.
Wire traces were no good, it seemed to put them off if there was even a short length of wire.
Tying the mono leader straight to the jig was the best approach, and despite this there were few bite offs. Great fun.

Whiting by popper in September Mr. Yoki Gondai

Mr. Gondai is an old friend of mine.
He is very good at using a popper.
He goes fishing to the shallows of East Point.

Gondai's Tactics:

• He wades through the shallow water.

• He vibrates the tip of the fishing rod in a definite pattern.

Weekend fishing Reefcod #2-#3 TT LURES SWITCHBLADE Challeng a big Shovelnosed ray

Saturday afternoon

I didn't expect to catch a barramundi on our shallows and so went to family-type rocks at East Point.
I usually don't come this place.
There were 10 people there.
They tried to catch fish with squid bait.

I used a blade lure.
As a result, I caught two small reef cods.

By the way,
I was frustrated recently because I didn't catch barramundis.
So I needed to challenge a big fish to a fight.

I have a card up my sleeve.
I know that I can catch a big fish comparably easier by land based in this season too.
It's a big shovel nosed ray.
The 1m - 1.2m sized one will be caught.

The above image is a sample.

I went fishing to the jetty of Darwin Stokes hill wharf around 7:30am on Sunday.
My fishing gears today as follows,

Reel: ABU 7000iHSN

Rod: Fenwick 196-6 5-8kg

Line: Fireline XDS 0.33mm

Leader line: JINKAI 60lb

I used beef steak as bait.
A big shovel nosed ray took it on the bottom around a jetty pylon.
I fought this big fish for 15 minutes but the 60lb leader line broke.

It is thought that these big 1m - 1.2m shovel nosed rays still swim on our shallows in this season too.
They take any baits.
I think that I can't stop their running away after hooking with my spinning tackles on our shallows.
