I didn't expect to catch a good sized barramundi having low activity on our shallows in the morning on the last day of May.

I knew that a barramundi repeated aggressive attacks on my lure.
But this small barramundi was much smaller than I had expected.

YO-ZURI CRYSTAL MINNOW 110mm could swim deeper than I had expected.

I went fishing after lunch again.
I explained by demonstration to good friends of mine how to use a soft plastic bait lure with the action of "Stop and Go".
My "Stop" needed 2seconds.
Probably 2seconds would be much longer than they had expected.

As a result, I caught a nice 48cm eating sized flathead.

48cm Flathead is very good in size in Darwin.

It's not very good for a good sized barramundi on our shallows in May. Barramundi #880 Flathead #48 DUEL HARDCORE MINNOW 70F

Not rich man thinks as follows,
Good sized barramundis are very sensitive to heat and cold, especially very cold and ascending water temperature. Once the body temperature went down, the metabolism also went down, and then good sized barramundis didn't feel hungry so much temporary.
This situation happened in May.
On the other hand, good sized barramundis go to the deeper water when they feel the ascending water temperature.
They wouldn't bite lures at the sudden water-temperature change.
The stable water temperature is ideal for our fishing.  Even under the condition of a very cold water, they start biting lures once the water temperature became stable again.
September was the quietest time for catching good sized barramundi on our ahallows.
I couldn't catch many Barramundis in September every year.
March was told as Run-off in the wet land, but much quieter than April on the shore.
May wasn't very bad, but quieter than June, July.
However, once the water temperature became stable, good sized barramundi became very active.
Under the condition of the cold water, good sized barramundi changed into silver-white body. This silver-white body itself suited the cold water. Of course, the differences depend on the individual barramundi.

New moon tonight.
It's very dark night.
The tide was good.
The sea surface was slightly wavy which means very good.
I went fishing to an urban sand beach just after the highest tide.
I didn't expect a good sized barramundi.
I want a flathead for my dinner.
As you know, flathead loves pink in colour.

I used a DUEL HARDCORE MINNOW 70F.
I was surprised that a small barramundi would take a pink coloured lure in the super shallow water on the sandy beach.

Sunday evening Too clear water Barracuda #13 Queenfish #19 RAPALA XR 08 MARIA MJ-1 S110F

I filled a 50LB braid line 60% full on spool of ABU INSHORE.
I didn't use any brakes on spool.
I could likely throw lure nearly to the end.

Expected advantages of this baitcast reel

• Long distance casting

• Powerful reeling

The recovery of the snagged lure

I needed a big fish.

The surface of the sea was slightly wavy. 
But the water clarity was too good.
I expected Queenfish and trevally under the condition like this.

Sunday morning Rockcod #317-318 I didn't expect any good results this morning. Sight fishing on our shallows.

The tide was very good.
But, the water was very clear.
More worse, the surface of the sea was flat.

I couldn't expect to catch a good sized barramundi this morning.
So I tried to catch a small fish by using a super light tackle.

I had to wear polarize sunglasses.
I had to first see the fish in the shallow water.

I was looking for a dark-colour fish swimming there.
And
I cast lure to the fish, and watching the fish take the lure.
It's too easy to enjoy it.

#Reidy's Hellraiser is a very good lure.
You can catch a big fish also.

#SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG is a much better reel than I had expected.
You can get an ideal retrieving speed for catching a barramundi on shore.

ST.CROIX 4-8LB rod has a better castability than the other rods of mine.

This fishing bored me stiff!

Saturday morning I tried to land a good sized barramundi at one go-off.

In order to get a better way to improve the distance obtained when casting with a baitcast reel.

If you fill it 50% full, you can throw it to the end.
That's not ideal.
If you fill it 60% full, you can likely throw it to 90%.
That's ideal.

I filled 50LB braid line 60% full on spool of ABU INSHORE.
When cast, the baitcast reel's spool is in free spool without any brakes.
This is an effective method to improve the distance and power to do battle for the very difficult shallow water.

The tides were very good today.
The surface of the sea was very rippled.
Finally, I got a very long distance of lures.

It's a very good sized barramundi.
He jumped twice.
Probably he was 65cm-70cm in size.

I tried to land him at one go-off because I use a 50LB braid line this time.
Finally, I lost a good sized barramundi this morning.

ABU INSHORE is still a good reel.
I haven't replaced those bearings yet.
I haven't had any troubles for many years.

I wonder whether I should land a good sized barramundi at one go-off with a SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL or not.

As a result,
some people enjoyed to watch that game very much.

Thursday night 52cm Barramundi #879 TIEMCO MIGHTY PEPPER 70F

There were thousands of oyster-rocks under the water.
It's not very easy to use jerk-bait and twitch-bait lures here.
Normally, I use a YO-ZURI SS-MINNOW under the condition of a very difficult shallow waters.

As I always say, the condition of the surface of the sea is very important factor for catching a barramundi on shore.
Barramundi prefer to take lures in the shallows under the condition of a slightly wavy surface of the sea.
Barramundi won't take lures readily in these locations when conditions are flat.
On the other hand, queenfish and trevally often hit lures in these conditions.
Maybe not always, but most of the time.

The surface of the sea was flat tonight.
Slightly windy.
There's no moon tonight.
So I could expect a barramundi on this shallow.

A barramundi was chasing bait fish.
I was very clear on this situation. 
I chose a TIEMCO MIGHTY PEPPER 70F this time.

Thursday night Not rich man needs theory. Barramundi #878 Rockcod #316 YO-ZURI SS-MINNOW

As I always say, the condition of the surface of the sea is very important factor for catching a barramundi on shore.
Barramundi prefer to take lures in the shallows under the condition of a slightly wavy surface of the sea.
Barramundi won't take lures readily in these locations when conditions are flat.
On the other hand, queenfish and trevally often hit lures in these conditions.
Maybe not always, but most of the time.

The surface of the sea was flat tonight.
So I didn't expect a nice sized barramundi.
There's no moon tonight.
So I could expect some small sized barramundis.

Some experienced and skilled anglers won't agree with the theory of my fishing.
They might feel unhappy due to the theory of my fishing.
I think I'm no match for them.
They probably have cars and boats.
But I have no car and boat.
I just have a 50cc old scooter.
I only fish at Mindil Beach, Fannie bay and East Point.
Those places are very urban shallows.
There are not so many fish in my fishing fields to compare with creeks, rivers and billabongs.
I have to devote myself to improving my skills and theories otherwise I can't catch many fish in my fishing fields because I'm not a rich man.

I prefer to catch more barramundis.
I normally don't expect a very big barramundi.
Of course, I'll be very happy if I catch a very big one.

Many experienced skilled anglers grade up hooks of their lures by exchanging with strong hooks.
I don't do it in these urban fishing fields.
On the contrary, I try to improve hooks by exchanging with quality-light hooks.

The surface of the sea was slightly rippled this early morning.
But it's almost flat.
In addition, the water was very clear.
That means that a nice sized barramundi won't come near our shallows.

The situation was getting better.
The surface of the sea became slightly wavy around 10:30am.

I caught a 55cm urban barramundi at the most difficult rocks.
This point was a very hard to go through.

It's the best choice under the condition like this.
