He's known about this place very well since five years ago.
He's caught many nice sized Barramundis here.

I followed Brett.
He said that he's never seen any snakes and crocodiles here.
That's very nice!

Brett was casting a small soft plastic bait.
This fresh water was much deeper than I had expected.

Brett took me to this nice place with his very nice 4WD after work.
Thank you very much for your kindness and big help.
It's not very easy for me to drive my 50cc scooter to this place.

Brett caught a 50cm up fresh water Barramundi on Saturday here.

Golden Trevally By land based fly fishing Mr. Leigh Eldridge

I saw Leigh at The Mall today.
I asked him to teach me fly fishing.

We talked about his holiday fishing at Christmas Is.

Attached is a photo of a Golden Trevally I caught on Sunday 17th February 2013.
We were fishing from the rocks near XXXX.  I was fishing with a mate, Anthony, who found this spot.  He was using a StCroix spin stick and Shimano 2500 spinning reel.  Unfortunately he did not catch a fish on hard bodies or soft plastics.
Tide was dropping from full.  Fished until tide was about half way out, then ran out of water.  Water was very clear and fish could be seen clearly
I also got a Flathead and a Giant Trevally and saw more GT's.

Rod:  Loomis 8 Weight Experience

Reel:  Shimano Biocraft 8/9

Line:  8 Weight Scientific Angler Floating flyline

I love your website, very inspiring! I live over in Nhulunbuy and I am just getting into land based barra fishing here. I have a tinny but enjoy the land based too and my son Kai is 9 so he is at a good age for shore based. I have bought some good light weight gear and my first session this afternoon resulted in a nice pair of 40cm flatheads - no barra tho'! (using your favourite squidgy fish in silver fox and black gold!) If you reply to my email I will send you a picture.

My Calcutta is really better for trolling, I have a Shimano Antares Version 2 coming which will be a more suitable reel. I will spool it with lighter braid.

Also have a Daiwa Certate spinning reel coming to match a Shimano Raider Soft Plastic Flathead  FH6101SP rod.

If you ever have the chance to visit Arnhem Land we would love to see you here in Nhulunbuy, I am sure we could have some good fishing - and eating!

Cooked in egg & panko for dinner!

Sunday afternoon 50cm Barramundi #752 SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL

I caught three Barramundis this morning.
And then I went to the mouth of the urban creek.
The surface of the water was very flat.
I gave up fishing there.

I went to the rocks after lunch.
I caught a 50cm Barramundi at the beginning of the incoming tide.
The water was very muddy in colour.
The surface of the sea was wavy.
It's not very wavy at that time.
It's a very nice condition!

The tides were very good.
A gentle breeze rippled the surface of the sea.
Very nice condition!

SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL had much distance than light lures.
I threw Mongrel a long distance and then retrieved it steadily.

We had the long-awaited rains this week.
The monsoon rains are absolutely essential in this season.

But it's a windy day today.

One of the biggest problems with fishing on windy day:
Strong against wind!

We need a heavy lure.
I recommend SQUIDGY PRO MONGREL for our shallow waters.
It has much distance than light lures.

Anybody won't catch rocks with lures.
I keep the rod tip higher than 45 degrees or more under the condition like this.

Thursday evening Rockcod #261 YO-ZURI SS MINNOW

We had the awaited rains yesterday.
The surface of the sea was flat.
And so it was thought that Barramundi wouldn't take lures this evening.
But there were some small fish boilings.
Nice sized Tarpon were chasing the school of Jelly prawn.

I hooked a 40-50cm Tarpon with a small popper but I couldn't land him up.

Finally, I caught a Rockcod.
