Monday night
56cm Barramundi #770
SAWAMURA One'up SHAD

The tides were very good today.
The water was very clear.
The surface of the sea was slightly wavy.
The condition was very good for catching a barramundi tonight.

One'up shad was a very good swimmer.

By the way, I saw SHIMANO SCORPION 1500XT in the show case at FISHING and OUTDOOR WORLD today.
All bearings of SCORPION 1500XT are S-ARB and ARB.
It's very good for the salt water environment.

Spinning or Bait-cast?
By land based
On the shore

I have received many e-mails as follows,

Question?
Spinning or Bait-cast for catching a barramundi on the shore?

Answer
You could use spinning.
You could use bait-cast.

On the other hand, this following theory will help your land based barramundi fishing on the shore very much.

The best tide shifts with the best fishing point every hour.

Sunday afternoon
Restaurant sized rockcod
SAWAMURA One'up SHAD
Mr. Jack Wong

Jack used a very light tackle.
His reel was SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG.

1000 sized reel has a short handle.
It's very effective for retrieving a soft plastic shad on the shallow.

He caught a very nice sized rockcod.

Jack used a very nice soft plastic shad.

I know that Mr. Shannon Holopainen also uses this one.
I have the same one too.

This shad swims very well.
Much better than I had expected!

Sunday afternoon
Where's barramundi?
Caught only rockcod.
Rockcod #282-#289

We hadn't had many rains in our monsoon season.
There is something different from last year in April.
Where are barramundis?

Talking about today's condition,
the tides were good.
The water was clear.
The surface of the sea was wavy. (not very wavy)
It was thought that the condition was very good for catching barramundi on the shore.

But,

No barramundi.

I caught only rockcod.
8 rockcods.
I was frustrated very much today.

I'm travelling now.

First legal sized 65cm Barramundi
On fly
By young local angler
Mr. Liam Hatcher

Our barramundi fishing is a very, very important culture in Darwin.

Live bait fishing
Lure fishing
Fly fishing

Every experienced local angler is very able to catch a barramundi.
They are taught how to catch a barramundi by their father in their childhood in Darwin.

Liam is a very able local angler.
It is thought that he's also been taught their barramundi fishing by his father.

I received an e-mail from Mr. Liam Hatcher this morning.

hi hiro,

The dry season has just started.
74cm Barramundi
CUTTING EDGE LURES Axe 180
Mr. Keith Watson

Keith Watson is

1.Metery barramundi catcher
2.Metery thread fin salmon catcher
3.Monster catfish catcher
4.The title holder of the biggest bream of BBDHI 2012
5.The man who had seriously toothed holes on his boat bitten by crocodile

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are all true.

I heard Keith caught a very nice 74cm barramundi this afternoon.
That's simply like Keith Watson.
However, I was surprised at the location.
By land based!

Originally, Keith has a very skilled rod-work technique and lure-casting technique.
It is thought that Keith should be the No. 1 to me in our fishing community.

The weather was very nice.
The tides were good.
The dry season has just started.
Now, the sea water is very rich and clear.

I asked him to give me the details.

Hello Hiro... Mate I got it off the XXXXX right at the XXXXX..(sssshhh!!!).... This was the first hour of the push in tide this afternoon. Rod was a GLoomis IMX 6' heavy fast action rod (short rod for me but I like this one) with a shimano curado 200E7 loaded with 20lb suffix braid with a 40lb leader... Lure was a new Cutting Edge Lures called The Axe 180.... My method was cast out and into the incoming tide and slowly twitch the lure back it making sure that each twitch I break the surface

☆⌒(*^-゚)v Thanks!! Keith.
He's one of the very, very good teachers of barramundi fishing to us.

Friday night
Barramundi #767
SQUIDGY FISH

I heard some very good fishing friends of mine caught nice sized barramundis today.
The tides were good.
We have already had proper environment of our salt water on the shore.
Very rich salt water here now!

We only need a good timing to catch a barramundi.
I finished working at 4:30pm today.
Waited for the outgoing tide.
I went fishing around 8:00pm.

The surface of the water was flat.
The water was very clear.
Normally, I can't expect to catch a barramundi under the condition like this.
But I saw many bait fish jumping on the very shallow.
I chose SQUIDGY FISH / 70mm BLACK GOLD.
Retrieved it steadily on the very 30cm - 50cm shallow water.
The darkness of night helped my fishing.

I thought I caught a 60cm barramundi at last because he pulled the line so hard.

As a result,

Thursday night
Urban Mangrovejack #39
SQUIDGY FISH

Today's highest tide was around 7.09m at 18:45pm.
New moon tonight.
I like the full moon too.
I started fishing from 19:00pm.
I saw Mr. Ben Maunder there.
He's a very good fishing friend of mine.
But there were too many mosquitoes to keep staying.
He gave up fishing.
It's very natural.
I should have given up too.
I feel very sick when I'm writing this blog.

The surface of the sea was very flat.
So I didn't expect to catch a barramundi tonight.
I thought some tarpons or trevallies would take my lures.

As a result, I caught a nicely strong mangrovejack.
I chose SQUIDGY FISH / MINT JELLY 70mm.
Retrieved steadily first and used the action as 'touch and go'.

I enjoyed this fishing very much because a mangrovejack was a very strong-fighter fish.
