Good news for the rainy days
Salt water rock prawn
Rainy season's bait
Mr. Steve Osborne

I thought that there wasn't a fresh water habitat on our urban shallow water.

Since we are in the rainy season anglers obviously have to contend with plenty of rain.
It's very hard to find fishes, crabs and aquatic insects living inshore saltwater habitats after a big rain on the land.
Such decomposing vegetation as black leaves, dead branches and dead grass washed in with rain run-off disturb our barramundi fishing very much.
The low salinity levels and dirty water put off the bait and the predators, and drive them away from where they can be easily targeted on foot.
That means it's very hard to catch barramundi on the shore around Darwin city straight after a big rain.
However, barramundi can live in both fresh and salt water.
Therefore we can catch barramundi after a big rain in purely freshwater environments.
This is because we can find bait fishes, shrimp and crayfish that live in most freshwater habitats even after rain.
It's very hard to find such a freshwater environment in the region of Darwin City.
I still fish the shore when it is rainy, but it is not the ideal time.
In my experience, the best time for catching many good-size saltwater barramundi from the shore in the rainy season is when we have had no rainy for 24 hours.

Now, we have a good news for the rainy days on our urban shallow water.

Mr. Steve Osborne and I fished at the rocks today.
Steve showed that he caught a Barramundi, a Flathead and a Goldensnapper with a soft plastic prawn bait.

It was thought that the salt water rock prawns could stay around the our urban rocks under the condition of the badly rainy days.

75cm 16LB Sweetlip
SQUIDGY SLICK RIG

Luckily, the rain stopped 1 hour before the tide stopping.
We had a very rare parallel waters after a new long and moderate rain today.

The upper water should be no fish zone.
I should fish at the lower water.

I retrieved SQUIDGY SLICK RIG from the bottom.
And I searched in the lower water zone.

As a result,

Sunday
Trevally 24-25
CULTIVA SUSPENDIG

We had a new rain this morning.
It's a long and moderate rain.

I almost gave up fishing today.
But the rain stopped just 1 hour before the tide stopping.

I thought that there should be a possibility of causing parallel waters.
The upper fresh water and the lower salt water were caused by a new moderate rain.
It's a very rare situation on our urban shallow water.

I went fishing to the deeper water.
I thought I'd catch only catfish on the very shallow water today.

I used Cultiva Suspending lure.
This lure was recommended by Chonga.
This lure should be the best Rockcod lure.

Searching the bottom, I caught powerful Trevally.

Lady and child anglers should use this lure because they need only easy twitch and a long pause for catching fish.

SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG
Mr. Ira Leitis Fehlberg

I've started using SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG since October 26.
And I caught 6 Barramundi today.
I was surprised at the performance of SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG very much.
Originally, I've been using SHIMANO SUSTAIN 2500FG.
I have nothing to complain about SHIMANO SUSTAIN 2500FG.
SUSTAIN 1000FG is very pleasant to use.
Especially 40mm short handle is an ideal factor for my land based fishing.

I read the fishing gear reviews about SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG on the magazine before.
Mr. Ira Leitis Fehlberg wrote the gear reviews about SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG on the issue 37
of NAFA'S barra bass & bream DIGEST.

Originally, I've known Mr. Ira Leitis Fehlberg.
I met Ira in June 2011.
Ira introduced me to  NAFA for my blogspot in the summer No.22 edition of the magazine.
And he introduced me to his blog as follows,
I got these stunning shots below of Hiro as he threw lures off the rocks. (by Ira)

This picture led to our acquaintance.

I didn't see Ira when he took above pictures.
I found him when he finished taking pictures.

Seeing Mr. Ira Leitis Fehlberg, it opened the door to seeing Mr. Dave Krantz, Mr. Steve STARO Starling and Mr. Alex Julius.

I can never thank you enough, Ira.

Now, I have SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG.
I understand that SHIMANO STELLA 1000FE should be better than SUSTAIN 1000FG.
However, I'm satisfied with the quality and performance of SUSTAIN 1000FG.

I believe that I'll catch many nice sized Barramundi with SUSTAIN 1000FG.

And

I'll have SHIMANO STELLA 1000?? when Ira writes the fishing gear reviews of New SHIMANO STELLA 1000?? in future.

6 Barramundi 664-669
Chonga's secret land based flat
SQUIDGY FISH
バラマンディールアー

Chonga caught many big Barramundi two weeks ago here.

This is Chonga's secret flat.
Chonga and I went fishing to a land based flat.

I used SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG with 10LB Sufix Braid.
We fished here at the mid day.
If we fish at the tide change in the descending water temperature timing here, we'll catch some 70cm up.

Chonga used a really big lure today.
He caught some Barramundi and lost a big one.

I lost a 70cm up because of his hard head shaking.

I won't tell anyone where Chonga's secret land based flat is.
Because Chonga is a wild man. (Just joke) o(*^▽^*)o

Chonga is a very, very nice person.
He's a very important friend of mine.

SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG
SUFIX 832 braid Neon Lime
Rockcod 183-184

It's a very windy day.
The water was very wavy.

Normally, we shouldn't fish under the condition like this.

But I wanted to test a new small reel and a new braid line for my fishing today.

SQUIDGY SLICK RIG was very good for a very wavy water.

Rockcod 184

SUFIX 832 braid Neon Lime is very strong.
It's very easy for knotting lines with a leader line under the very windy condition.

I used a 10LB braid line for SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG.
Mr. Matt West recommended this line for SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG.

Very famous great champion of Barra Classic.
Matt was the champion of Barramundi Classic 2010.
He was the 3rd. place of Barramundi Classic 2009.

SHIMANO SUSTAIN 1000FG is a very smooth and good reel for me.

How to make a sashimi soy sauce

You must need a special soy sauce for eating sashimi.
We can buy KIKKOMAN soy sauce in Darwin.
I don't recommend this soy sauce itself for your eating sashimi.
Of course, you can use it.
But the taste shouldn't be very good.

You can find KIKKOMAN soy sauce, Japanese Mirin seasoning and Japanese Sake in Darwin.
I recommend that you should make your own special soy sauce for your eating sashimi.

A. KIKKOMAN soy sauce 500cc

B. Japanese Mirin seasoning 150cc

C. Japanese Sake 150cc

Bring these above A, B, C to a very small boil in the same pan for 20-30 minutes.

When cooking care must be taken not to boil it completely after adding A, B, C, since the aroma will be volatilized and the flavour decrease.

Add the white of an egg at the end of boiling A, B, C.

It makes a bad thing in taste stick to the white of an egg.

Finally, it must be filtered for use.

This method isn't the best or proper because we can't get Konbu sea weed in Darwin.
